The University of Richmond is seeking a social scientist for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in the Jepson School of Leadership Studies (JSLS). Although ABDs will be considered, the successful candidate must have completed a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in public administration, public policy, educational policy, political or social psychology, sociology, or a related field, by August 23, 2017.
JSLS is a collaborative, inclusive community of scholars in anthropology, economics, history, literature, philosophy, politics, social psychology and religion. We seek applicants who study, or have the potential and desire to study, leadership by drawing on their disciplinary expertise to inform their work. We are particularly interested in candidates whose demonstrated scholarly interests focus on the analysis of policy or processes related to justice and explaining social and economic inequality.
Applicants should have the potential and desire to teach in an interdisciplinary undergraduate liberal arts environment. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses related to his or her disciplinary training and to contribute to the curriculum by teaching such required courses as Leadership and the Social Sciences and Theories and Models of Leadership. With the aim of educating students for and about leadership, the Jepson School offers a challenging liberal arts curriculum delivered by means of a rigorous and innovative pedagogy.
