The Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations (EALC) at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in pre-modern Japanese humanities. Scholars working in pre-Tokugawa history or pre-Meiji literature are particularly encouraged to apply, but applications from other humanists whose work complements that of our current Japanese studies faculty are also welcome. The appointee will advise and teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, offering a range of courses related to Japanese humanities. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2017. Doctorate or terminal degree in Japanese history, Japanese literature or related discipline required by the time the appointment begins.
