The Anthropology Department (http://anthro.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body, and invites applicants whose experience have prepared them to contribute to our pedagogical mission. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D in Anthropology prior to the first quarter of service, outstanding teaching and scholarship, and must demonstrate strong or potential contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the context of a large public university. The Department is looking for Lecturers with teaching experience in the following anthropological subfields: Archaeological Anthropology, Biological Anthropology and Sociocultural Anthropology (especially religion, multiculturalism, racism, education, and/or environment). We encourage applicants with expertise in regions or areas not well represented in our current faculty, for example, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and elsewhere. Appointees will be expected to teach large, introductory courses in their sub disciplines, and a combination of upper and lower division courses, including courses on their own research interests. Appointments will be part-time or full-time, up to a total of two courses per quarter, from one quarter up to one year in duration, with the possibility of extension to a subsequent year.
