~~LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER. The Department of American Ethnic Studies at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time lecturer or a senior lecturer appointment, if the candidate is deemed qualified in the area of African American Studies, with an emphasis in African American History and Culture. Applicants should have a master’s or PhD degree, or be an advanced PhD candidate, in African American Studies, Ethnic Studies with an emphasis on Black studies, history, anthropology, sociology or political science. Preference will be given to applicants who have extensive teaching experience in any or several of the following sub-areas:
• African American social and cultural history
• Urban history
• Relationship of jurisprudence and African Americans
• Sports and social change
• African American political thought
• Intersection of race, sports and identity
• Civil Rights and Black Power Movements
Applicants will be expected to teach six courses per academic year at all levels of college instruction. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
