The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Connecticut College invites applications for a full-time visiting assistant professor in transnatio nal and transcultural East Asian humanities (with a focus on Japan, possibly also Korea) beginning July 1, 2016. The initial appointment will be for a single year, but will be renewa ble for another year. The area of specialization is open, though we are particularly interested in candidates with research and teaching expertise in the fields of global studies, cultural studies, world literature, gender studies, or film and media studies. Teaching load is six courses per year, including courses in our interdisciplinary East Asian Studies major and electives to be determined in consultation with the department.
Applicants must have a PhD in hand or expected by August 2016. Interested applicants should submit their dossiers to the search committee via Interfolio at apply.interfolio.com/33973. Dossiers should include a letter of application, two sample syllabi (one for a general studies course aimed at the non-major, one for a course intended for majors), and a curriculum vitae.
