The Department of History at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position in the history of gender at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2016. We welcome applicants whose work also engages the history of the body, sexuality, health, or medicine. The successful candidate will be prepared to offer courses in North American or United States history prior to 1900, and we encourage applications from scholars who employ comparative or transnational approaches in their teaching and research. The successful candidate will have opportunities for cooperation with programs including but not limited to Women’s Studies, LBGTQ, Africana and Latin American Studies, Native American, Peace and Conflict Studies, and/or Asian Studies.
Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
