Position in Hebrew Bible
The Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Hebrew Bible at the assistant professor level, to begin Fall 2016. The position is for a scholar who specializes in the critical study of the Hebrew Bible in the historical and textual context of the ancient Near East and who shows promise of continued work on the biblical text in its original context. A candidate will be expected to have command of the relevant philological and historical-critical approaches to the text as well as of the pertinent languages and literatures of the ancient Near East used in biblical study. Knowledge of aspects of later Judaic interpretive literature and theoretical approaches used in the Humanities or Social Sciences is desirable. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including biblical Hebrew text courses, and to supervise MA and PhD students in a program of Bible and Ancient Near East.
