This is a part-time (0.5 fte), two-year replacement position, from Aug 2015 through July 2017. Application deadline: 10 June 2015.
We are interested in applications by scholars of politics, culture or history of the Modern Middle East, with demonstrated teaching and advising experience. The lecturer will be expected to teach and conduct thesis supervision at the BA and MA levels. Courses will likely include “History of contemporary Iran”, “Politics, Ideologies and Societies in the Middle East” and “History of the Middle East (1500-present)”. Requirements include a PhD in one of the following fields: Comparative Middle Eastern Studies, Modern Middle Eastern History, Cultural Studies, Politics, or Sociology; in-depth understanding of the Modern Middle East, preferably with a specialization in the Mashriq region; and knowledge of at least one Middle Eastern language (preferably Arabic).
