The Department of English at New York University invites applications for two Faculty Fellow positions, commencing September 1, 2015, pending final administrative and budgetary approval. These are full-time, non-tenure-track appointments for one year, with a teaching commitment of 1 course per semester, and the possibility of renewal for a second year. Successful applicants will be outstanding scholars with a commitment to publication who have demonstrated effectiveness as college-level literature teachers, and will have the PhD in hand by September 2015, and may not have been received before August 2013.
The first position is for a scholar working in Human Rights in relation to any field of literary study. This includes work on theoretical, literary, and cultural texts and documents related to human rights. Scholars working on questions of political theory, diaspora, and economic, cultural, ethnic, sexuality, and gender rights are strongly invited to apply.
The second position is for a scholar working on indigeneity in anglophone and vernacular literatures, irrespective of region and period. Scholars working on questions including but not limited to literature and social movements; Indigenous critical theory; comparative indigeneity; language rights and revitalization are strongly invited to apply.
Deadline for applications is June 10, 2015. We expect to conduct Skype interviews in the fourth week of June.
