The History Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time non-continuing faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences. Appointment to this position will be for a term of one year with the possibility of renewal for one additional year beginning Fall 2015 and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor.
The incumbent will teach a total of five courses in the general area of Latina/o history, including a one-semester survey. Other classes will address the history of the US-Mexico Borderlands region and topics related to the candidate’s area of specialization. Attention to the history of sexuality and race in the US is desired.
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or expected by first semester of academic year 2015). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
