The United States Army War College (Carlisle, PA) invites qualified scholars to apply for the newly established Chair of War Studies. This position is a fulltime, long-term, civilian faculty position at the United States Army’s most senior institution for professional military education. The Army War College educates the top echelon of military officers of all US services and many foreign countries, as well as senior US government civilians. Its rigorous curriculum of theoretical and professional subjects leads to a Master’s of Strategic Studies accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
The Chair of War Studies’ principal responsibility is to produce cutting-edge scholarship that influences national security policy, military strategy, and the Army War College curriculum. Additionally, the Chair would lecture widely, organize and participate in scholarly conferences, lead collaborative research projects, teach a reduced load, mentor faculty and students, and counsel Army War College leaders on curricular issues.
