THE POSITION
The University of Mississippi (www.olemiss.edu) invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Community Engagement. This position reports to the Provost/Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Community Engagement will be responsible for leadership and coordination of the University of Mississippi’s efforts to create and support a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all members of the community, including students, staff and faculty members, and alumni. The Vice Chancellor will create an infrastructure that facilitates and encourages community engagement, develop partnerships to effectively facilitate transformation, and identify and support target areas to maximize the university’s impact. The Vice Chancellor will work with the chancellor, provost, and other campus leaders to foster a vision for advancing institutional goals and to nurture an inclusive and diverse culture. Duties include high-level coordination and leadership of campus diversity initiatives related to students, faculty, education and research; community relations and outreach; communications; and policy development. It is expected the Vice Chancellor will be eligible for tenure in an academic department. The Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Community Engagement’s primary responsibility is to guide efforts to define, assess, foster, and cultivate inclusiveness as an institutional value.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have obtained a doctorate or equivalent terminal degree, must demonstrate a distinguished record of scholarly achievement, and must possess the following qualifications: five or more years experience in administration and program-building; a record of unifying leaders from varied institutional and community sectors in the establishment and support of a diverse and inclusive culture; knowledge and understanding of affirmative action and equal opportunity regulations; strategic planning experience; and prior experience developing diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives within a large and complex organization.

COMPENSATION
Starting salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
