Division Head for Arts and Humanities
Penn State Abington is searching for a Division Head for Arts and Humanities to begin July 1, 2015. The Division Head oversees approximately 40 faculty members, budgets, programs in American Studies, Art, Corporate Communication, English, History, and Integrative Arts and coursework in English as a Second Language and Modern Languages, among others. Duties include staffing, scheduling, preparing promotion and tenure dossiers, convening Division Council, working with the college Development Office on institutional advancement initiatives in the Division, among others. The Division Head also supervises divisional academic advising functions and personnel, including Program Chairs, and serves ex officio on college-wide administrative and Faculty Senate standing committees. The successful candidate will be tenurable, at the rank of Full Professor, and will have held a faculty appointment in one of the above disciplines or related fields. This is a 42 week administrative appointment to allow time for continued engagement in scholarly activities and with the option of teaching. Prior experience as a departmental head or other academic administrative officer is highly preferred. Review of applications will begin on January 26, 2015. Penn State Abington is a four-year undergraduate college of Penn State University located three miles from the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Abington, Pennsylvania, and 15 miles north of Central Philadelphia.
