Description of Position:
The Department of Social Sciences & History at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham campus in Madison, New Jersey invites applications for an annually renewable Lecturer in Latin American history to begin Fall 2015. We seek someone with a Ph.D. in history whose specialization is ideally in the Colonial/Early Modern Era, can run the newly created Latin American Studies Minor, and with fluency in Spanish can teach some freshmen introductory language courses and/or conversational practicum. As part of FDU’s Becton College’s liberal arts mission, successful candidates must be qualified to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in Latin American history, to include upper division courses in their specialization, lower division regional survey that covers the Colonial & Modern eras, and departmental service courses Atlantic Worlds and World History from 1500.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants for the current position must hold a Ph.D. in Latin American History. ABDs will be considered, but must show evidence that the Ph.D. will be in hand by time of appointment.
