SENIOR SCHOLAR, INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT/INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS
The Department of International Affairs in The George Bush School of Government & Public
Service at Texas A&M University is seeking a senior scholar at the full or advanced associate
professor level to lead and shape the International Development and Economic Policy track within
the department, and expand its research and teaching offerings. We also invite applications from
interested professionals in the field who have the requisite research record for such an
appointment but who have worked outside of academic institutions during their careers.
As part of a public policy school, the department offers a two-year professional master’s degree in
international affairs, with two tracks, International Development and Economic Policy being one of
those two. We seek a scholar with an established reputation in international development and/or
international economics, e.g., trade, investment, finance, who can teach courses in these areas.
Candidates should be fluent in the appropriate methods of the field.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in economics, political science, or a related field, and ideal
candidates will demonstrate a mix of research and teaching excellence. An interest in and
engagement with policy-related issues and related research is preferred.
Salary is very competitive, and there is the possibility of an endowed chair. Texas A&M University

external grants, has a healthy endowment, and is host to the Norman Borlaug Institute, the Conflict
and Development Center (one of seven university Development Labs funded by USAID), the
Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy, the Scowcroft Institute of
International Affairs, and a US Census Research Data Center, among other nationally-recognized
entities.
