Assistant Professor
The Department of History at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a tenure-eligible assistant professor position in African American history, with a preferred specialization in North American/ Atlantic world slavery. Teaching responsibilities will include the survey of African American history and courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate must have proof that all requirements for Ph.D. are complete prior to August 1, 2015. He/she will have a clearly defined research agenda and will demonstrate potential for scholarship that complements and expands existing expertise in the department. He/she must demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or show a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
