Borderlands/Mexican American History. The University of Texas at El Paso seeks to fill an open rank position in the post-1848 history of the U.S.-Mexico borderlands and/or Mexican American history beginning in Fall 2015. We invite applications from scholars with a wide range of interests, but the department has a particular interest in developing research and teaching related to gender. The successful candidate will play a central role in our doctoral program in Borderlands history. This program, which has about forty students, capitalizes on our location on the U.S.-Mexico border, but encompasses both conceptual and comparative borderlands as well. The successful applicant will also actively participate in undergraduate teaching, including the U.S. history survey. Teaching load is commensurate with that of a research university.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in history. Degree must be completed prior to start of appointment.
Salary: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

UTEP was founded in 1914 as the Texas State School of Mines and Metallurgy. In 1949, the school’s name changed to Texas Western College.
