Lecturer, Human Health
Emory College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate major in Human Health and minors in predictive and global health seeks a Lecturer to begin fall semester of 2015. This is a full-time teaching position requiring five courses a year, including a large lecture course and small seminars. Our program is a liberal arts curriculum and we seek candidates committed to teaching innovative courses for undergraduates. The PhD is required; the specific discipline is open but requires an individual focused on interdisciplinary studies. The position involves the intersection of health and humanities with an appreciation for both the science of health and the broader meaning of health and the human condition. A record of publication and familiarity with funding is important. An individual with global fieldwork experience is preferred. Documented experience in teaching interdisciplinary courses is required and topical courses in health and humanities, mental health, bioethics and global health are preferred. The lecturer will manage communications for the Center to include web presence and the blog focusing on health in both science and humanities and global news. The responsibilities will also include developing a relationship with Emory’s integrative interests in health, including, for example, the Disability Studies Initiative.Successful candidates will have the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment and mentor undergraduate research and to expand relationships between undergraduate and graduate student involvement in the Center. The initial contract is for three years, renewable upon review.
