The Lecturer in Photography is a full-time, non-tenure track position with a 9-month renewable appointment.
Responsibilities: 1) Teach the equivalent of 4 courses a semester; 2) teach undergraduate photography studio courses from introduction through senior levels in analogue and digital processes; 3) Work with Photo faculty and the Graphic Design and Photography Media Facility Coordinator to maintain studio and printing workspaces; 4) work with Photography faculty in review and development of photography curriculum.
Required Qualifications: MFA in Photography required. Applicant is required to have a broad working knowledge of analogue and digital photographic processes, and knowledge of contemporary theory, criticism and photographic history. A minimum of two years teaching experience in higher education is required. Applicant must demonstrate ability to teach all levels of undergraduate traditional and digital photographic processes, from capture to output. Applicant must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching. Applicant must provide evidence of an active research and exhibition record. Excellent written communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications: A practice or pedagogy that incorporates one or more of the following is advantageous: new media, documentary, moving image. Experiential learning methods that include collaborative, socially engaged art and/or social media are preferred. Experience mentoring or working with urban and culturally diverse communities and organizations, as well as experience teaching diverse student populations, is preferred. Ability to work within a diverse team of faculty, staff and students is strongly preferred. Strong oral communication and presentation skills, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member are highly preferable.
