The Department of History at the University of Kansas invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Modern Europe (excluding Britain, Eastern Europe, and Russia); the position is expected to begin as early as August 18, 2015. We are especially interested in candidates with a research focus on the 20th century, and who are prepared to participate in a cluster of faculty located in departments across the university who are working on collaborative research and teaching projects related to migration, immigration, diaspora, or human trafficking. In addition to participating in the cluster, the faculty member will be expected to publish in the field of modern European history; develop and teach courses in the field; serve on graduate student committees, direct theses and dissertations, and perform advising responsibilities; and serve on departmental, College, and University committees. There will be a 2-2 teaching load.

Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or ABD in history or a related discipline is expected by the start date of appointment (08/18/2015)
- Demonstrable teaching qualification in the field of modern European history as evidenced by application materials
- Demonstrable research qualification in the field of modern European history as evidenced by course work and/or scholarly publications
- Potential for excellence in research and teaching in modern European history, as evidenced by writing sample, teaching materials, and letters of recommendation
