The Department of Writing, Literature and Publishing invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in Latin American/U.S. Latino literature. The candidate should be able to draw cultural and theoretical connections among Latin American, Caribbean, U.S. Latino/a, as well as other literatures of the Americas. We will also consider candidates with interests in Transatlantic Studies with a focus on Latin America. The appointment begins September 1, 2015.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Hispanic Literature or Latino Literature, native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English, experience teaching literature in Spanish at the college level, and evidence of scholarly activity.
The successful candidate will teach literature in translation to undergraduate students, including one senior seminar in Spanish for international and heritage students with a near native Spanish competency. The candidate will also teach a course fulfilling a college-wide literature requirement, which could include a first year seminar. Graduate literature courses for MFA creative writing and MA publishing students will be part of the portfolio. Experience teaching online classes or a willingness to teach in the new online MFA is welcome. In addition to teaching five courses a year, all faculty members advise and mentor students and participate in the college’s system of shared governance.
