The Program in Africana Studies and the History Department at Lehigh University seek applications for a tenure-track position, at the rank of assistant professor, in African American History. Desirable areas of expertise include African American women’s history, American slavery, Reconstruction, the Civil Rights Movement, the Black radical tradition, and Critical Race Theory.
The successful candidate will hold a joint appointment in Africana Studies and History. In addition to participating in the instruction and advising of undergraduate students in these fields, he/she will have the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant Ph.D. program in history and M.A. program in American Studies.
The successful candidate must be prepared to teach courses across the full range of African American history, from the era of slavery to the present, as well as the introduction to Africana Studies.
