Modern Japanese History. Assistant, tenure system. Michigan State University’s Department of History seeks a historian with research expertise in modern Japan (Tokugawa period to the present). Candidates should demonstrate an ability to engage with MSU’s Asian Studies Center and with the Department of History’s broad areas of research strength.
The teaching load is two courses per semester. Evidence of scholarship and a strong commitment to teaching is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue external funding in the form of grants and fellowships. Ph.D. required before the appointment is made. Salary, benefits, and support for research are competitive. Full-time academic year appointment will begin on August 16, 2015.
