The American Studies Program at Trinity College will appoint an innovative scholar of Public Humanities whose research and teaching presents a rigorous interdisciplinary approach to American society and culture. We are interested in approaches that engage contemporary settings through visual culture or ethnographic methods. The successful candidate will primarily address notions of community and the public, and may contribute to departments and multidisciplinary programs, such as Urban Studies, Anthropology, Environmental Science, Studio Arts, Women, Gender, and Sexuality, History, and/or English. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor that begins in the 2015-2016 academic year. Teaching load is 2/2 for the first two years (and 3/2 thereafter) with a one-semester leave every fourth year.
Trinity College, located in Hartford, Connecticut, is a coeducational independent, nonsectarian liberal arts college with approximately 2,200 undergraduate students and 200 faculty members. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate and interdisciplinary teaching in a liberal arts context, and a well-articulated plan for sustained research.
