The Department of History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies at North Dakota State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of History to begin on August 15, 2015. Responsibilities include teaching five courses per year, consisting of undergraduate and graduate courses in European History, as well as courses in other spheres of departmental emphasis where appropriate; conducting research; and engaging in service. Screening of applicants will begin on October 15, 2014, and continue until the position is filled.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications:
• PhD in Late Medieval or Early Modern European history (ca. 1000-1700) by start date
• Ability to teach the history of the Renaissance/Reformation
• Evidence of an active research agenda appropriate to a PhD-granting department in a land-grant, Carnegie-RU/VH university, including presentations or publications
• Evidence of effective college teaching experience
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
• Specialization in Central or Western Europe, including the British Isles
• The ability to teach introductory-level surveys of Western Civilization and World History as well as upper- and graduate-level courses in area of specialization
• The ability to teach topics in medieval history and ancient Rome
• A record of scholarly publication in specialization
