The Department of History and Politics at the College of St. Scholastica invites applications for a full-time position in American Indian Studies with a preferred start date of January 2015. We welcome applicants from a range of disciplinary backgrounds including History, American Studies, Native American Studies, Indigenous Studies, and Anthropology.
The successful candidate will teach courses in American Indian History and develop other classes that complement existing offerings in the American Indian Studies minor, the Department of History and Politics, and/or other departments.
Required Qualifications:
M.A. (required) or Ph.D. (preferred). Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in order to be eligible for a tenure-track appointment. The successful candidate will have some teaching experience, show the potential for active scholarship, and will demonstrate a dedication to working with diverse communities. The College of St. Scholastica is located in an area of striking natural beauty and within close proximity to a number of Indian reservations and tribal communities. The institution is committed to strengthening its relationship to students from tribal communities, and to preparing all students to live and work in a diverse world.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native communities.
