The Department of History at Dalhousie University invites applications for a 50% 10-month limited-term position in American History, at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, effective 1 August 2014, subject to budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching 4 classes, each one term long: HIST 2325 The Rise and Fall of the Slaveholding Republic; HIST 2335 Modern American Culture, HIST 3558 (cross-listed with Gender and Women’s Studies 3358) Slavery, Gender and Power: Women in Nineteenth Century America and HIST 4360 Slavery and American Political Culture
Applicants should have a Ph.D. or Ph.D. in hand. Preference will be given to those with experience in university level teaching in the relevant subjects. Applications must include a complete curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching and research interests and philosophies, and documentation of teaching performance. Three confidential letters of reference, in hard copy, must be forwarded under separate cover by the referees directly to the Dalhousie History Department.
