Tenure Track Assistant Professor Position in Public History
University of Massachusetts Boston
The History Department of the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in Public History effective September 1, 2014. While the area of research specialization is open, we are particularly eager for candidates who will take advantage of the university’s setting in a coastal urban New England environment and its rich colonial, Native American, and immigrant heritages. We seek someone who can continue building links to diverse community and governmental institutions. We particularly welcome candidates with experience in digital public history or historical preservation and can offer students a comparative focus. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent scholarship and teaching.
The successful candidate will constitute the academic backbone of the Public History Track in the department’s graduate program. The position will include teaching required courses in this track, advising public history students, and performing related duties for the department including the possibility of teaching undergraduate courses in the area of specialty.
Minimum Requirements: A doctoral degree is required and must have been awarded no later than December 2013.
