We invite applications for a full-time permanent position as Lecturer in Religious Studies (equivalent to tenure track assistant professor) who will teach and conduct research on Islamic traditions.
Victoria University of Wellington is New Zealand's first ranked university for research and its Religious Studies Programme is the country's largest, with an outstanding profile in teaching and research. Teaching duties include an Introduction to Islam course and advanced courses in the candidates area of expertise. Area of research specialisation is open. Possible areas of expertise include but are not limited to: South-East Asian Islam, Islam and gender, political Islam, or Islam in the contemporary world. The candidate should have facility in relevant languages.The Lecturer is expected to supervise MA and PhD research on a broad range of topics relevant to the position.
