The Department of History invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in U.S. history at the rank of assistant professor. The person appointed to this position must be able to teach courses in U.S. history from Reconstruction to World War II and from World War II to the present, as well as a one-semester introductory survey and courses in areas of specialization. Preferred areas of expertise include African-American History, Public History, U.S. Diplomatic History, Native American History, and/or Western U.S. History. Secondary teaching fields in African and/or Middle Eastern history are also desirable.
A Ph.D. in history, in hand by August 1, 2014, is required. Major field must be U.S. history.Effective teaching, scholarly productivity, and service to the university are required for retention, promotion, and tenure. Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the AHA. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.
