FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
Specific duties: A strong commitment to teaching a broad range of traditional courses in the mechanical engineering technology curriculum. Courses include, but are not limited to: Engineering Graphics, Applied Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Material Science, Machine Design, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD, Solidworks), Manufacturing Methods, Computer Numerical Control and 3D Printing.
Highly desirable candidates will have a strong background in traditional machining and manufacturing processes, brazing and welding, CNC manufacturing, heat treatment, tool and die design, non-destructive testing, quality control and inspection, prototyping and 3D Printing and the use of NC software (MasterCAM).
Additional duties include the development of laboratories and laboratory activities; advising students; supervising student clubs; participating in college and department committee work; recruitment activities; assessment activities intended to maintain accreditation; faculty development activities and undergraduate research and grants. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Continued scholarly activities are required for tenure and promotion
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
For Assistant Professor Rank: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related discipline, OR a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related discipline with licensure as a NY State Professional Engineer. Industrial experience in a manufacturing environment. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level preferred.
For Instructor Rank: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related discipline. Industrial experience in a manufacturing environment. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level preferred.
