America in the World: The American Studies Program at Trinity College will appoint an innovative scholar whose research and teaching locates American culture and events within an international dynamic. Candidates may work in any time period, but preference will be given to those whose work centers on visual and material culture or empire and colonization in a world-historical context. The successful candidate may primarily address the social, economic, cultural, or political dimensions of American engagement in world history, with attention to the relationships of both 'global' and 'national' developments, and will be able to contribute to departments and multidisciplinary programs, such as English, Environmental Science, History, International Studies, and/or Women, Gender, and Sexuality. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor.
