Administrative assistant in the Hebrew department and editorial assistant for Prooftext.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Office:
- Must be fluent in Hebrew
- Typing, copying and scanning instructional materials
- Providing back up for the Hebrew Language Lab director (reading tests administration, lab practices, etc.)
- Setting up final exam schedules for the department
- Meeting coordination – room reservation, food, communication with faculty
- Office supply
- Processing check requests
- Trafficking students’ and prospective students’ requests and inquiries
- Ordering Textbooks
- Communicating with other departments upon need
- Work on special projects involving the department and its faculty (e.g., guest talks, instructional technology)
- Miscellaneous
Editorial Assistant for Prooftext:
- Monitoring the on-line database record of editorial process
- Facilitating email communication between the Editors, author-contributors, board members, press and copyeditor
- Tracking submission and editorial process and updating Editors accordingly
- Compiling relevant documents and letters for author-contributors during editorial process
Tutoring:
- Trafficking tutoring requests to the different teachers
- Keeping track of tutoring requests (number of lessons, communication between students and teachers, etc)
- Payments – billing and collecting schools and students, arrange payments for tutors
- Hebrew Help Desk – scheduling, payments, etc.
Placement tests (HPE):
- Sending and receiving exams
- Scoring portions of the HPE, maintaining a data base with student results
- recording and reporting the placement results to the school deans
- Recording HPE results and reporting them to the deans
- Answer students’ questions with regard to testing results and placement
Budget:
- Maintain an account log
- Follow budget expenses biannually
Student and Departmental Information:
- Collect final exams and grade reports and manage the data
- Produce HOD use report
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Must be fluent (near native or native) in Hebrew
- Typing in Hebrew and English
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written) in Hebrew and English
- Ability to effectively present and receive information
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, PPT and Excel; familiarity with picture editing software.
- Aptitude for technology
- Self-starter and a quick learner
