The Department of History at Ohio University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in the history of modern Southeast Asia. Applicants must have a strong record of research, high proficiency in at least one Southeast Asian language, and an agenda for future scholarly achievement. The successful candidate will be expected to teach upper-division courses in Southeast Asian History and survey courses in World History, as well as teach and advise History MA and PhD students and MA students in the Asian Studies Program. Ohio University was the first U.S. institution to teach Southeast Asian history and is home to one of North America’s preeminent Southeast Asia library collections. Teaching load is two courses per semester. PhD required by August 2014. We seek a candidate with a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
