The Association for Jewish Studies, the learned society of academic Jewish studies, seeks a full-time Program and Membership Coordinator for its offices located at the Center for Jewish History in Manhattan. Position available immediately. Responsibilities include: overseeing phone and electronic correspondence with members, management of membership database, implementing membership cultivation and retention initiatives, helping to organize annual scholarly conference, researching new projects, and assisting in assorted office activities. The ideal candidate will have outstanding organizational, interpersonal, writing, and computer skills; experience and great comfort working with databases; a customer-oriented approach; a sharp eye for detail; an ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities; and familiarity with basic word-processing and finance software (including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Quickbooks).
B.A. degree minimum required. Competitive salary; full benefits. This is an excellent position for someone interested in Jewish studies, academia, and/or non-profit management.
