The Department of History seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor of South Asian History. You will conduct historical research in South Asian History from 1700, and be prepared to work in collaboration with colleagues within the Department, and across the University. You will be expected to collaborate with colleagues in one or more of the Research Centres based in the Department, the Global History and Culture Centre, the Centre for the History of Medicine, and the Eighteenth Century Centre. You will be expected to build research networks in your specialism beyond the University.
You will have a proven record of achievement in research, with clear potential for and/or demonstrated excellence in publication in an area or areas of South Asian History. You will have an ability to conduct research in a South Asian language. You will have appropriate and strong publications for a REF return. You will have undergraduate teaching experience, and experience of/or potential to engage in postgraduate teaching. You will have knowledge of applying for funding, and the potential to participate in collaborative grant initiatives and management. You will be expected to participate as appropriate in the administration of the History Department.
The Warwick History Department has a strong tradition in South Asian History and has actively developed its research and teaching in recent years in the history of Asia and Africa and broader global history. It has recently made new appointments in African history and Islamic world history.
