FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise.Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
The successful candidate will teach World History since 1500 and courses in Medieval-Early Modern and/or Modern Western Civilization. Faculty members are encouraged to develop specialized courses in their own field of expertise; to participate in departmental and college responsibilities including curriculum development and grants;and provide mentoring and advisement to students. Some evening or weekend teaching may be required. For Instructor title: scholarly activities required for continued appointment.For Assistant Professor title: scholarly activities required for tenure and promotion.
The History Department at Queensborough Community College seeks applicants interested in a career in an institution that promotes excellence in teaching as well as scholarly research. The Department has 10 full-time faculty who are fully engaged in widely diverse fields of historical scholarship. QUALIFICATIONS
For Assistant Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
For Instructor:
Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
COMPENSATION
Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
