About the Queensborough Community College Department of Health, Physical Education and Dance: The Department offers required and elective classes in health education and physical education for a number of degree programs at the College. The Department sponsors an A.A.S. degree in Massage Therapy and the Dance Concentration in the A.S. degree in Visual and Performing Arts. The Athletic program includes competitive team sports. Queensborough is seeking a Health Education Instructor or Assistant Professor. The candidate will also serve as the EMT/CPR Coordinator. The candidate will teach a broad range of Health Education courses. Coordination duties includes scheduling EMT and CPR Classes, processing of CPR cards for the students, and answering and handling any EMT related issues. Participation in department committees, academic advisement, program development and assessment is required. The candidate must be willing to become part of the culture of the College in terms of taking part in College committees and initiatives that carry out the mission of the College. For Instructor title: scholarly activities are required for continued appointment; for Assistant Professor title: scholarly activities are required for tenure and promotion. Evening and/or weekend schedules may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
For Assistant Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
For Instructor:
Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Required for appointment as Instructor: Master's Degree, strongly preferred in Health Education or related field.
Required for appointment as Assistant Professor: Doctoral Degree in Health Education and/or related field.
College teaching experience is required. The candidate should have experience teaching a broad range of appropriate courses. Experience with program development, assessment and multi-cultural populations is preferred.
COMPENSATION
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
