Lecturer in Medieval History
Starting salary £37,012 to £44,166 a year (potential progression on performance once in post to £49,689 a year).
We are looking for a historian whose research interests fall within the period c. 300-1500, anywhere in the world. Geographic and thematic specialization are both open, though we would particularly welcome applications from candidates whose interests speak to one or more of the following: the early medieval period (to the 11th century), India or the Islamic world, early medieval British Isles in a wider context. We would expect the successful candidate’s research to complement the department’s existing thematic strengths and increasingly global range. The appointment is conceived as part of a wider effort to maintain our profile in this area.
The appointee would be expected to consolidate and expand our UG teaching provision, expand Masters and PhD recruitment, and work with the Centre for the Study of the Middle Ages (CeSMA) and potentially other research centres to contribute to History’s performance in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise.
Interviews will be held in January.
Expected start date September 2013
Closing date: 30 November 2012 Reference: 44635
