The Asian Studies Program and the Department of Modern Languages at Florida International University invite applications for a Lecturer/Instructor joint position in Chinese language, culture and literature to begin in August 2013. This position is contingent on funding. Duties include teaching all levels of Chinese language as well as literature and culture courses in translation in a growing Chinese program. Applicants should be familiar with communicative proficiency-based methods of foreign-language teaching. Ability to teach courses focused on the broader East Asia is a plus. Requirements: native or near-native fluency in Mandarin and English; minimum degree M.A. (Ph.D. preferred) in Chinese, East Asian Studies, Comparative Literature or related field; and experience teaching Chinese at the college level.
