The History Department at Stony Brook University (SUNY) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in African History. The successful candidate will have a doctorate on a topic in the history of Africa completed and successfully defended by the beginning of the academic year, late August 2013. We seek a scholar who will contribute to the transnational and thematic focus of the Department’s graduate program, as well as undergraduate programs at all levels. As a research university, our course load is two courses per semester. This position is subject to budgetary approval.
