African History or East Asian History. The History Department at Central Washington University invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professorship positions, one in African history and one in East Asian history, both to start September 2013. Research specializations open. Responsibilities include teaching sections of the three-quarter World History sequence, upper-division courses in African or East Asian history, and upper-division and graduate courses in area of specialization. For the East Asian position, the candidate must be prepared to teach upper-division courses in Chinese history. The positions also include research and service obligations, and the successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute either to the university’s Africana and Black Studies program or to the university’s Asia Pacific Studies program. A PhD in history by September 15, 2013 and evidence of successful teaching at the college level required, and experience working with a diverse student population preferred.
