PUBLIC HISTORY: The History Department at Appalachian State University invites application for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Public History to begin August 15, 2013. Qualifications for this position include a Ph.D. in history, with preference for specialization in historic preservation or cultural resource management. Candidates who are ABD will also be considered, but the position requires completion of all doctoral requirements before August 2013. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, courses in General Education, and courses in public history. Responsibilities also include maintenance of an active research program, student advisement, and participation in service activities. Applicants must send a complete application consisting of an application letter, C.V. and three letters of recommendation to Public History Search Committee Chair, Department of History, Appalachian State University, Boone, NC 28608-2072. Electronic applications will not be accepted. The initial review of complete applications will begin on November 1, 2012, and will continue until the position is filled.
