History of the Islamic World before 1900 and Modern Middle Eastern History
The University of Washington Department of History invites applications for two full-time positions: one in the History of the Islamic World before 1900 and the other in Modern Middle Eastern History. One appointment will be at the tenure-track assistant professor level while the other will be at the tenured associate or tenure-track assistant professor level. Both appointments will begin September 2013.
Successful candidates will be expected to participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching, offering both large surveys and more advanced courses, conduct independent research, and contribute to the University’s distinguished and diverse programs in Islamic and Middle Eastern studies and related fields. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree, or be in the final stages of a Ph.D. program, by the start of the appointment.
Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled, but preference will be given to applications received by October 15, 2012. The search committee plans to conduct interviews at the American Historical Association (AHA) annual meeting.
