The Civil War Institute at Gettysburg is currently seeking applications for a full-time Associate Director. This position will be responsible for program development and administration; developing undergraduate study opportunities and potential courses in public history and field of specialization; expanding interdisciplinary collaboration with Civil War Era Studies, the Eisenhower Institute, and the Garthwait Leadership Institute; fostering partnerships with public and private community agencies; promoting the academic discipline of public history; and building an intellectual center for the study of Civil War studies to help advance the civic purposes of the humanities. The Civil War Institute engages a range of public audiences while promoting historical stewardship among Gettysburg College students. Candidates must have a M.A. or Ph.D. in History or a related discipline from an accredited institution. The successful candidate will have a record of teaching and extensive public history experience. Expertise in digital history projects and training is welcomed. A specialization in Civil War History is not required. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven record of successful grant writing, administrative effectiveness, and community-engaged projects. This is not a tenured line at Gettysburg College.
