The Division of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies (HArCS)within the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in history, to begin Fall 2012, in the field of slavery, Afro-Atlantic history, and/or the African Diaspora in the Atlantic World. Period of research: between 1500 and 1900. We are especially interested in candidates in history and related fields whose research focuses on the Atlantic slave trade and have geographical expertise in one or more of the following regions: North or South America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Teaching would include a world history survey, an introduction to the Black Atlantic or slave trade, and undergraduate and upper-division courses related to individual research interests. Required: Ph.D. in history or a related field by August 1, 2012. Desired: Applicants with publications and university teaching experience.
