Parsons The New School for Design
Parsons The New School for Design, a division of The New School, seeks applicants for a renewable term faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor within the School of Art and Design History and Theory.
The School of Art and Design History and Theory is looking to develop its academic strengths at the undergraduate level in writing and criticism. Candidates must be innovative in their pedagogical approaches to activating students’ interest in the relationship between theory to practice, and be forward-thinking about what skills/literacies are now required to adeptly respond to complex 21st century global conditions. The Assistant Professor will be expected to make a significant contribution to the design/art writing and criticism curriculum at the undergraduate level (with a focus on the first year) and will teach undergraduate courses to students from a variety of disciplines across Parsons. S/he will hold regular office hours for students and colleagues, and participate in other classroom and extracurricular activities on a regular basis (e.g., critiques, review panels, independent study, program citizenship, Parsons/New School committees, etc.). Faculty are expected to continue to participate in creative or scholarly work.
