The Department of Political Science at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position in political theory at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2012. Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. Candidates should be able to teach introductory courses in the history of political theory and upper-level courses in their areas of specialization. Candidates whose research interests complement those of current faculty members and who have ability to teach courses on classical political theory and core texts of the ancient world are especially welcome. The teaching load is five courses over two semesters. The position requires help in staffing department courses and the successful candidate will also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. Demonstrable excellence in teaching is essential.
