The Department of History, Political Science and Religious Studies at Carroll University seeks applicants for a full-time, one year Visiting Instructional Staff position beginning Fall 2011. Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications.
Start Date:September 1, 2011; the successful applicant will be required to attend orientation/ training in late August.
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in History; those who are ABD and who expect to complete all degree requirements before the end of the calendar year may also be considered. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and have experience teaching first-year students. Teaching responsibilities include the two-course U.S. History survey and potentially an upper-level course in the candidate's field of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates prepared to teach an introductory course on Modern China. The teaching load is 4 (4-credit) courses each semester (fall and spring), along with departmental service.
Carroll University: Founded in 1846, Carroll University is an independent, co-educational comprehensive college grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Carroll University is located in suburban Waukesha, 16 miles west of Milwaukee and 60 miles east of Madison. The University serves approximately 2650 full-time and 700 part-time students. The University, though intentionally ecumenical and non-sectarian in approach, is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA.
