The History Department of the College of Charleston invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in American South with a focus on the twentieth century to begin August, 2010. Candidates must have completed the Ph.D. in history by August, 2010. Promise of excellence in teaching and research are required; teaching experience and publications are preferred. Successful candidates will be able to contribute to any of the College’s interdisciplinary programs, such as the Carolina Lowcountry and Atlantic World Program, Urban Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies. Candidates must have a firm commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts and sciences environment. The ability to teach upper-level courses in the American South in the twentieth century and courses in the general education curriculum in pre-modern and/or modern history is essential.
